Gadsden County Reminds Citizens Take Safety Measures and Stay Connected  

As Hurricane Michael Recovery Efforts continue, Gadsden County reminds citizens of safety measures they should take until the community returns to normal. Additionally, citizens should remain aware of the changing distribution sites, office openings and other information by following Gadsden County on Facebook, visiting www.GadsdenCountyFL.gov or texting ALERTGADSDEN to 888 777 for important updates. 

Burn Ban

Gadsden County has issued a county-wide burn ban. Gadsden County residents are being asked to move storm debris to the curbside in order to be picked up. The burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning that has not been specifically permitted. The ban is applicable within the unincorporated and incorporated territory of Gadsden County. A burn ban means that Gadsden County residents will not be able to have any open fires of any types, including camp fires, bonfires, yard and trash burning, etc.

Price Gouging

The Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office encourages citizens to report price gouging and scams by calling 1 (866) 9NO-SCAM or 1 (866) 966-7226.

Citizens should use caution when buying from a door-to-door salesperson or when signing blank insurance claim forms. Verify before you buy. Call the Department of Financial Services (DFS) Consumer Helpline at 1-877-MY-FL-CFO (1-877-693-5236) or www.MyFloridaCFO.com to find out if an insurance company and agent are licensed.

Curfew

The Gadsden County is currently under a mandatory, county-wide curfew to begin at 10 p.m. and end at 6 a.m. The curfew applies to all citizens and business in the incorporated and unincorporated areas of the county.

Citizens are reminded that they should be prepared to be stopped and questioned by law enforcement is the curfew is violated. The Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office has enlisted the help of the Florida Wildlife Commission and Florida Highway Patrol to ensure the curfew is enforced.

Boil Water Notice

A boil water notice has been issued for Pat Thomas RV Park. No other boil water notices have been issued at this time.

Law Enforcement 

A Looting Task Forces has been created to prevent break-ins to local businesses. Call 911 if you see suspicious activity. 

Shelters

The only remaining shelter is at the Gadsden County High School.

Distribution Sites

The Gadsden County distribution site list has been updated to include additional communities.

Health Screenings

The Gadsden County Health Department will be conducting basic health screenings at the Johnny Johnson Pavilion in Chattahoochee, FL.
