Gadsden County Issues Mandatory Evacuation for Mobile Homes


The Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners has issued a mandatory evacuation for all mobile homes in the Midway, Quincy, Havana, Greensboro, Gretna and Chattahoochee city limits and unincorporated areas of the county.

Gadsden County Emergency Management officials urge citizens to prepare now as Hurricane Michael is expected to bring devastating impacts to the gulf coast as a major hurricane as early as Tuesday night.

Shelter Transportation

Additionally, the Gadsden County School Board will be providing transportation runs to county shelters beginning at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9 at the following locations:


Old Havana Elementary - Hwy 27

Harvey's Parking Lot - Hwy 27



Piggly Wiggly Parking Lot - Ben Bostic Road

Rose's Parking Lot (Old IGA) - Hwy 90



Sawdust Park - Providence Road

Chattahoochee Elementary - Maple Street

Mt. Pleasant Post Office - Hwy 90

Gretna City Hall - Hwy 90



Midway City Hall - Hwy 90

Transportation runs will occur every three hours.

Sandbag Locations

The Gadsden County sandbag location at the Post Plant Pit, 1090 Post Plant Rd., Quincy, FL will be open today, Tuesday, October 9 until 5 p.m.

Shelter Locations

The following shelters will be open Tuesday, October 9 at 12 p.m.

o   1210 Kemp Rd., Havana, FL 32333 – (850) 539-2043

Registered sex offenders will not be allowed to enter any general population shelter. Male registered sex offenders on probation must report to the Florida Department of Corrections on Hwy. 267. Female registered sex offenders must report to the Gadsden County Correctional Facility (Women’s Prison), Hwy. 12, Gretna, FL. Non-probationary registered sex offenders must report to the Gadsden County Jail.

School Closures

All Gadsden County Public Schools will be closed until Friday, October 12, 2018.

Office Closures

All Gadsden County Board of County Commission offices will be closed through Friday, October 12.

The Gadsden County Tax Collector and Property Appraiser’s office will be closed through Thursday, October 11.

The Gadsden County Health Department will be closed through Thursday, October 11.
