About Gadsden County

Gadsden County is located in the central panhandle of the State of Florida. The County is located nineteen miles west of Tallahassee and the county seat is the City of Quincy.  Gadsden County is unique in that it is the only predominantly African-American county in Florida.   According to, as of 2010, the population in Gadsden County was 46,389.

Gadsden County boasts a rich history, ample recreational opportunities and cultural diversity. The county offers its residents and visitors the best of both worlds, combining southern history and charm with economic development and growth.  The land area of 516.33 square miles is bounded on the east by the Ochlocknee River, on the west by the Apalachicola River, on the southeast by Lake Talquin and on the north by the State of Georgia.
