Building Inspection, Code Enforcement & Facilities Mgmt.

The Division of Building Inspection is responsible for all building permits, inspections on these buildings, maintaining and renewing licenses for County registered contractors and maintaining certified contractor’s license and enforcement of the building codes.

The division administers permits and professional inspections for residential and commercial building, new additions, remodels/repairs, electric, plumbing, mechanical, gas and manufactured homes. Building Inspection’s primary customers are property owners of Gadsden County (residential and commercial), builders and contractors, architects and engineers, and manufactured housing authorities.

Our building official and our inspectors hold many licenses which include, Certified General Contractor, Commercial and Residential Building Inspector, Plans Reviewer, Electrical Inspector, Mechanical Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, Gas Inspector, Mobile Homes Inspector, Code Enforcement and more. They are required to complete fourteen hours of Continuing Education annually to maintain current credentials. The State Comprehensive Plans and Codes, and County Regulation are enforced for all buildings, residential and commercial, and these buildings have to meet the criteria of the Planning and Zoning Standards of Gadsden County.

Building Inspection experiences the direct effects of many environmental issues. Building Inspection is concerned with land clearing, drainage, septic, and water issues as it is related to the impact on the building being built or put on the property in this county. The major legal references that govern Building Inspection include: Gadsden County Land Development Code, Gadsden County Comprehensive Plan, 2006 Florida Building Code, 2005 NEC Electrical Code, F.S. Chapter 489 Part I.
