Solid and Hazardous Waste

The Solid Waste Division serves two primary functions:

  1. Monitors the county's closed landfills (2) through various scheduled tests as required by the Department of Environmental Protection; and
  2. Maintains the county's Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection program.

Effective October 1, 2011, The Gadsden County Solid Waste Division was consolidated into the Division of Neighborhood Services along with Parks & Recreation, Household Hazardous Waste and Animal Control.

Solid Waste Permits are no longer issued by the County for disposal of household garbage. Instead, residents in the outlying areas of the County may subscribe to curbside garbage pickup service with Waste Pro USA by calling (850) 561-0800 or residents may utilize the City of Quincy's Byrd Landfill on Selman Road to personally discard their household garbage. To contact Byrd Landfill, call (850) 875-8390
